Vision Shaping Treatment ™

Helping You See and Look Your Very Best

What is Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)?

Ortho-K lenses are prescribed for two purposes:
– Reversible correction of myopia (also known as nearsightedness.)
– To slow the progression of childhood myopia.

We recommended Vision Shaping Treatment™ through ortho-k contacts for children and adolescents. It is an FDA approved vision correction option which is well-tolerated by most patients and produces amazing results: most patients see clearly without glasses or contact lenses all day long!

Which vision problems can ortho-k correct?

Most people with nearsightedness and mild astigmatism are good candidates for ortho-k. The type and amount of refractive error that can be effectively managed with orthokeratology differ on a case-by-case basis. Dr. Borsuk will be able to give you more specific guidance after a thorough eye evaluation.

How long does the ortho-k effect last and when will I see results?

You should be able to see acceptably well without glasses or contact lenses after a day or two, sometimes longer. For best results, you should wear the ortho-k lenses every night.

Dr. Borsuk’s goal is to help you see clearly and aim for 20/20 vision through the Vision Shaping Treatment we offer at Modern Eyes.

Since the corneal reshaping effect is temporary, little risk is involved, and you can discontinue wearing the lenses at any time.

Who is a good candidate for orthokeratology?

Children and young adults who want to be glasses-free but are too young for LASIK, or those who are not good candidates for refractive surgery for other reasons (dry eyes, for example) often are good candidates for ortho-k. People who participate in contact sports or work in dusty environments that can pose problems for contact lens wear also can be good candidates.
